As I mentioned above, we won an award for our Stamp Stanley project. The whole of Europe entered a Walk to School Eco Schools Competition, and what happened was that Mr Phoenix, one of our teachers, made Stamp Stanley.
Stamp Stanley is a walk-to-school project and the whole entire of our school entered to do this. What we do is, we walk to school as much as we can but if you live more than a mile or so from school you can Park and Stride from the local Victory Swimming Pool to Millfield School. There are little metal feet fixed to lamp-posts near to school, that we use to stamp our tokens with. (The tokens were supposed to be plastic, but we used paper instead because plastic was too expensive.) Later on we were able to go to a shop in the school and use the stamped tokens to buy a reward. We used the paper tokens to buy pencils, rubber balls, glitter pens and other things. For the rewards we got football, trampoline, jungle gym and fun'n'games time. Some people drive up to the Stamp Stanley's, the children hop out, stamp their tokens, get back in the car and drive on to school. This is very naughty and will not do, because everyone else is making the effort to walk to school and back to help the environment as well as themselves. You can read about a film our school made, and see a video our school made: Walk to a Better World. |
