Submarines and Ships

Both ships and submarines can float in water, but submarines are able to dive underwater, sometimes for many months.

Ships are mostly used for trade and travel, and a bit of warfare. Submarines are mostly used for warfare.

you may know about the war afganistan. but there's still one of the forces missing there. Can you guess? Of course, it's the NAVY. Imagine just for a minute that Afganistan was near the Ocean. What would happen? The country would have bean counquered by now. the marines and NAVY boats aren't there because they can't get near. rivers there are, but you could easily attack a boat from the shore. These ships are modern warfare boats.

The Dreadnaughts were a deadly class of battleships. They were British and built in the early part of the 20th Century. They were made of steel, and had steel armour plating. They had really heavy guns and turrets.

Long ago, before we had machinery, people would cut down trees and lengths of vine. The would cut the logs in half down their length, and tie them together with the vine to make a floating platform (a raft). They would probably have moved the raft through the water using sticks in the water, or maybe with sails made from animal skins.

As time went by the boats would have become larger and high-sided to keep the water out. Lots of people would sit near the bottom of the boat and would all row together using long oars. These people would have been galley slaves. These sorts of boat would have been used to carry goods from one place to another, and also for fighting.
