These are two wierd tanks I know:
  • One tank has a wierd gun that has a ball with two holes in the side and one in the front, and is made of metal. It is the Tiger Tank, and was first seen in action in 1943 (or thereabouts!).
  • The next tank is very heavy. It is called the Tog II and weighs sixty tonnes and most other tanks can outrun it. It has incredibly strong armour if we were going to shoot it.
The Sherman DD wears a big skirt and can float. There is only one left in the world and it lives at Bonnington Museum in Dorset. If you go there you may see it - but it is mostly covered up. If you dropped the Sherman DD from a helicopter it would float to an enemy beach and blast the defences without the defences knowing.

How to dress up like an evacuee! (for boys)

  1. First put a white long-sleeved school shirt on
  2. Next put on a sleeveless woolly jumper (made of sheep's wool)
  3. Then put a completely black jacket on, with black buttons
  4. Next get some grey school trousers and cut then to just above the knee. Sew them so they don't look scruffy.
  5. Put long grey socks on that go up to your knees, like football socks.
  6. Wear ordinary black school shoes (no lights in them!)
That's how to do it.

The American Aircraft Carrier was one of the biggest ships at one time in World War II.

An Aircraft Carrier can travel right around the world without refuelling. I would guess that there would be about thirty to forty aircraft on a carrier at once.
